Sunbed staff training for UK salon teams
The Sunbed Hub UV Tanning Safety Training Pack is designed for salon owners and staff working with commercial sunbeds. It supports internal education and practical awareness: recognising risk, understanding when to pause or refuse a session, recording decisions and asking a manager for help. It is not a regulated qualification, professional accreditation or a guarantee that a salon complies with every applicable law.
What the training covers
The ten-module roadmap covers UV basics; skin typing and suitability; contraindications, medication and refusal; eye protection and client safety; cleaning and infection control; equipment maintenance and lamp checks; legal responsibilities; client records, consent and GDPR; incidents and complaints; and staff responsibilities. These are topic summaries, not a public reproduction of the member lessons or assessment questions.
Learning activities and assessments
Learners work through modules and required interactive activities before completing each module’s knowledge check. The final assessment becomes available after all module checks have been passed. Assessment results and learning progress are recorded for the individual account. The platform’s existing completion rules determine when the final assessment unlocks; reading this public overview or the News article does not count as completing a module.
Completion certificates
Successful completion produces a Sunbed Hub training certificate under the existing certificate process. Owners and staff have distinct training records, and staff completions are not reassigned to the salon owner. Certificates provide a record of internal education and awareness, not statutory approval or proof that a person is competent in every situation. Use the certificate’s own dates and verification details when checking its status; a public regulatory update does not invalidate an existing completion.
Why staff training matters
A busy reception, a customer who cannot show satisfactory age evidence, a new medication or a concern about a lamp can all require staff to stop and escalate. Training helps teams distinguish legislation, technical standards, official guidance and salon policy, rather than treating every operational rule as law. UV exposure can cause skin cancer, eye damage, burns and premature skin ageing. Staff training, consultation and eye protection do not remove those risks.
Keeping the legal context current
England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have different legislative frameworks and additional safeguards. The 2026 England consultation closed on 14 August 2026; as checked on 3 October 2026, feedback is being analysed. Additional ID, supervision, sale or hire, health-information, eyewear and health-claim safeguards remain proposals unless subsequent authoritative information establishes otherwise. Relevant member modules carry a separate informational note without changing scoring, progress or certificate rules.
How a business accesses training
Eligible salon members access the lessons through their accounts. Owners invite staff so each person can learn and retain their own completion record. Suppliers are not given access to the salon and staff training product. Actual lessons, assessment answers, individual scores and certificates remain behind the existing account and membership controls. This overview gives prospective members a clear explanation of the offering without publishing private learning records.
